Wendell Long has been the chief executive officer of Pascua Yaqui Gaming Enterprises since March 2006 and oversees Casino del Sol Resort, Casino of the Sun and AVA Amphitheater. Long has more than 30 years of casino experience (including more than 15 in Indian Gaming) and his depth of knowledge in gaming, finance, leadership, and strategic planning serves to increase revenue and staffing opportunities for the Pascua Yaqui tribal community.

Sol Casinos recently completed a major expansion of Casino Del Sol including a luxury hotel, convention center, additional restaurants, enhanced gaming, and a parking garage. A golf course is also being planned to further expand the property’s amenities.

Prior to working for Pascua Yaqui, Long served as general manager at Treasure Island Casino in Minnesota and was a casino executive at Foxwoods Resort Casino and director of table games at Mohegan Sun, the two largest casinos in the world at that time ~ both are in Connecticut. Before he worked in Indian Gaming, Long worked in Atlantic City including 11 years with the Trump Organization.

He attended Princeton University and received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Connecticut and his master’s degree in business administration, finance and marketing from Heriot-Watt University and received his law degree from William Howard Taft University.

Long is an enrolled tribal member of The Great Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, a licensed commercial pilot and instructor, a member of the Conquistadores, and an active member of the Board of Directors of the Southern Arizona Red Cross, Tucson Zoo, and Tu Nidito. He is Chairman of the Board of the Tucson Metro Chamber and serves as a Chairman’s Circle member on the TREO Board of Directors. He is married and enjoys golfing, skiing, and flying in his spare time.
