SOLON Announces Partnership with Andersen Corporation, Launches Innovative Rooftop Product
Industry-First Licensing Agreement of Fibrex® Material from Andersen Enables SOLON to Bring Innovative Photovoltaic Systems to Market, such as SOLON’s SOLquick integrated PV solution for Commercial Rooftops, Launched Today
Together with the launch of SOLquick, SOLON today also announced an exclusive worldwide licensing agreement with Andersen Corporation, the most recognized window brand in the U.S., for use of its Fibrex® material within the photovoltaic (PV) market. Through this agreement, SOLON is able to better deliver innovative products, such as SOLquick, to the residential, commercial, and utility-scale PV markets.
SOLquickTM, a patent pending new plug-and-play commercial rooftop solution, is an integrated laminate plus mount system design that features Fibrex® material from Andersen and brings tremendous cost savings, simplicity and design value far above standard module installation practices that benefit project financiers, designers, integrators, installers and end customers. Initial SOLquick flat roof installation has proven to reduce mechanical installation time by over 85 percent and electrical installation time by 50 percent.
Fibrex material from Andersen, a novel composite, combines the strength and stability of wood with the low-maintenance features of vinyl. The Fibrex material technology has many benefits for use within SOLON PV solutions, including high durability, stiffness, moisture and heat resistance, non-conductivity, and thermal insulating properties. These characteristics help ensure that PV products do not require grounding, while reducing heating and cooling requirements. An added benefit is that the material is extremely lightweight, making it an attractive option for PV racking materials. Highly sustainable, the patented Fibrex composite material contains 40 percent pre-consumer reclaimed wood fiber from Andersen’s manufacturing operations and polymers, a portion of which are also reclaimed.
SOLON will launch SOLquick – a revolutionary commercial rooftop system, at Solar Power International on October 17 in Dallas, Texas.
