The Empowerment Zone comprises three developable sites and approximately 17.25 additional square miles within the urban core of the Tucson region. These developable sites and the Zone area have been designated eligible for federal business tax credits by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. These tax credits are designed as a mixture of tax financing and workforce training incentives with a goal of revitalizing our urban core.
For your company to qualify, it must:
- Reside in the Empowerment Zone or Developable Sites.
- And/or employ persons living in the Empowerment Zone.
Tax credits available to businesses:
- Employment Tax Credit
- Work Opportunity Tax Credit
- Business Investment Incentives
- Issuance of Tax Exempt Bonds
- Welfare to Work Tax Credit
